IShowSpeed's cameraman tests every stream route first to stop buffering

1 min read

IShowSpeed told viewers that his cameraman scouts the full route before every IRL stream. The goal is to keep the internet strong so the live broadcast never freezes.

Speed said the cameraman walks or drives the whole planned path first. He checks the phone signal and the bitrate, which is the speed the live video uploads. If the connection is too weak, the team changes the route before Speed ever goes live.

"Sometimes I will have my cameraman go through the whole route of my whole stream literally have him drive around or walk around the whole route just to see if the bitrate is fine," Speed said. He added that internet is the key because he cannot live stream without it.

IRL streaming means broadcasting from the real world instead of a fixed room. Speed films in moving cars, busy streets, and far-off places on global tours. A single weak signal can drop the video or freeze it, which loses viewers fast.

Even strong gear has limits. Speed's team uses setups that bundle several phone connections at once, sometimes with a satellite backup. Dead zones still exist, so scouting the route helps them find the spots with good coverage.

The cameraman is Slipz, also known as Samuel I, Speed's longtime technical director and right-hand man. He handles the live production and logistics, not just the camera. The clip was shared by the account yoxics on X and spread quickly.

Fans said the story shows how much planning sits behind the chaos. The wild, spontaneous feel of a Speed stream rests on quiet work done before he goes live.
